Cleo Brady Crumley of Enigma passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2015, at her residence. Her funeral service will be held Sunday, July 19, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with Rev. Billy Swain officiating. Mrs. Crumley will be laid to rest at Enigma Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday, July 18, 2015, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Mrs. Crumley’s grandsons, Chip Lee, Rick Maluda, Ben Crumley, Van Lindsey, Loren Hand and great-grandsons, Mitchell Maluda, Jack Lee and Jake Purvis will serve as pallbearers. Junior pallbearers will be Meagan Lindsey Dean, Brandon Dean, Rachel Lindsey, Hannah Lee, Abby Hand and Laura Belle Hand. Honorary pallbearers will be John Bowen, Bill Bowen, Leroy Little, Darwin Walker, Larry Railey, Zack Railey, Lamar Hogan, Jason Griffin, Billy Abney, Joey Hall, Bobby Rowan, Sonny Mathis, Hulen Purvis, Cecil Giddens, John Phillips, Ras Kitchens, Bobby Metts, Jay York, Joe Portier, Ronald Harbin, her best friend, Mary Lou Meeks, Eastern Star members and Wendell Ramsey, whom she helped raise. Mrs. Crumley was born in Colquitt County, the daughter of the late Rev. Alvie Brady and Jewel Sumner Brady. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Benjamin Hoyt Crumley, whom she married August 23, 1941 and who died April 22, 1999; two sisters, Hazel Lupo and Sara Wiggins. She and her husband always rejoiced in their love for each other and were happily married for 57 years. From their union, they had three children. Hoyt and Cleo were both members of Enigma Methodist Church and were adamant in raising their children to be honorable and reminded them often of the importance of their faith. She received her education in Tift County schools and, in later years, continued her education at Abraham Baldwin College, where she studied bookkeeping, interior decorating and art. Cleo taught Sunday school and Bible school for many years. She remained active in her church and civic organizations. She served as president of the P.T.O., Tifton Ladies of Nasah Shrine Club, Tifton Ladies Marching Patrol, Inspiration Club; was elected president of the Tifton Pine Garden Club and member of the Daughters of the Nile, the Amaranth, the Tifton Art Association, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Downtown Tifton Restoration Committee. She also enjoyed her time of being a Pink Lady at Berrien County Hospital. She was initiated in the Eastern Star in September 1976, and the following year, served the station of Martha and was then elected Associate Conductress, advancing through the stations to Worthy Matron in 1980-1981. She served as secretary of her chapter for three years and treasurer, until elected Associate Grand Conductress. She served as District Grand Deputy, Grand Representative and Grand Lecturer. She was elected Associate Grand Conductress and advanced each year to Worthy Grand Matron of Georgia for the years 1989-1990. She also served three terms on the City of Enigma Town Council. Many people will remember her for her great love for growing beautiful day lilies. She was a member of the Georgia Day Lily Society. Most will remember seeing her spend many hours working in her gardens. She was a loving wife to Hoyt and a loyal and loving mother to her children. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was often a source of fun for them. Mrs. Crumley is survived by her three children and their spouses, Barbara and Jack Lee, Larry and Kathy Crumley and Bobbie and David McDonald, all of Enigma; one sister, Mattie Bell Pogue of Tifton; her grandchildren and their spouses, Jack Franklin and Cynthia Lee of Tifton, Sonya and Van Lindsey of Lenox, Heather Purvis of Enigma, Rick and Candace Maluda of Enigma, Brook and Loren Hand of Alapaha and Ben Crumley of Jacksonville, Florida; her great-grandchildren, Meagan Lindsey Dean and husband Brandon, Rachel Lindsey, Hannah Lee, Jack Lee III, Mitchell Maluda, Jake Purvis, Abbie Hand and Laura Belle Hand.
