Lavert Weltzbarker Parks, 92, of Thomaston, formerly of Tifton, died Monday, November 10, 2014, at Riverside Health and Rehab in Thomaston. Her funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 13, 2014, at the graveside at Ty Ty First Baptist Church Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest. Rev. Ernie Rogers will officiate. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the graveside. Mike McDaniel, Dr. Dick Hydrick, Keith Waldrop, Dr. Charles Clark, Scott Neely, Darren Dandridge, Parker Neely, Preston Neely, William Davis Dandridge and Cutter Waldrop will serve as pallbearers. Mrs. Parks was born on November 6, 1922 in Colquitt County and was the daughter of Fred L. Weltzbarker and Fleta Lance Weltzbarker Childs, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Milton Parks, who died in 1999; and one sister, Jeannette Walsh. Mrs. Parks was a homemaker and a member of Tifton’s First Baptist Church. Mrs. Parks is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Phyllis and Dr. Dick Hydrick of Baconton and Connie and Mike McDaniel of Woodbury; one brother, Doyle Weltzbarker of Quitman; four grandchildren, Holley Waldrop, Haley Hydrick Clark, Kristin McDaniel Neely and Anna McDaniel Dandridge; four great-grandsons; and two great-granddaughters. Flowers will be accepted or memorial gifts may be made to Woodbury Baptist Church, 106 Dromeday Street, Woodbury, GA 30293; Baconton Methodist Church, 187 East Walton Street, Baconton, GA 31716; or the charity of your choice.
