James “Jimmy” Allan Davis, 74, of Tifton died Sunday, May 4, 2014, at his residence. A graveside funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at Oak Ridge Cemetery. Rev. John Hughes will officiate with burial to follow. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 6, 2014, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Mr. Davis was born on August 26, 1939, in Tifton and was the son of James Howard Davis and Mollie Lee Hayes Davis, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Claude M. Davis and Robert J. Davis; and two sisters, Mary B. Davis Mumford and Betty Davis Moore. He graduated from Tift County High School in 1957 and received his Bachelors of Science in Accounting from the University of Georgia in 1964. Jim was a commercial real estate broker for 30+ years in Atlanta, before moving to Tifton in 2003, where he joined Century 21 as a commercial and residential real estate broker. He served in the United States Army Reserve as a tank commander for six years. He loved his family with all his heart – they were his heart. Mr. Davis is survived by his wife, Hilda Shaw Davis of Tifton; three daughters, Katherine Davis Rodger and husband, Randy of Newnan, Joanna Davis of Tifton and Barbara Davis of Tifton; one sister and brother-in-law, Sara Davis Majeski and husband, Charles of Tifton; one sister-in-law, Ann Davis; two grandsons, William, 8 years old and Liam, 1 year old; and many loving nieces and nephews. The family expresses sincere appreciation to Dr. William Hancock and Dr. Brent Savelli and their respective staffs for Mr. Davis’ care.
