Ronald “Ronnie” Gene McCranie, 58, of Fitzgerald died Monday, March 31, 2014, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 3, 2014, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Joseph L. Crumley will officiate with burial to follow in Union Cemetery in Doerun. James Hampton, Joshua Coker, Jesus Cervantes, Wayne Brooks, Jeremy Jones and Chris Owen will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 3, 2014, from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of the service at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Mr. McCranie was born on October 18, 1955 in Moultrie and was the son of Robert Gene McCranie of Moultrie and the late Doris Parker Gaitin. He was a country singer and song writier. In addition to his father, Mr. McCranie is survived by his wife, Katherine Hampton McCranie of Ocilla; one daughter, Savannah Beard of Cumberland Furnace, Tennessee; one step-son, U. S. Army Spec Lorenzo Charles of Fort Hood, Texas; one step-daughter, Venicia Salinas of Adel; one brother, Randy McCranie of Albany; one sister, Kim McCranie of Moultrie; and step-grandchildren, Carmen Salinas, Jose Luis Salinas, Mariana Salinas, Eric Cervantes, Layla Cervantes, Leslie Charles and Skylar Charles.
