Jewel Wilson Lyon, 83, of Sumner died Saturday, August 3, 2013, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 6, 2013, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. McKinley Wright will officiate with burial to follow in Hickory Springs Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 6, 2013, from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the service at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mrs. Lyon was born on February 6, 1930 in Thomas County and was the daughter of James Herman Wilson and Mary Easom Gandy Wilson, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jack Lyon, who died in 1986; five brothers; and two sisters. She was a homemaker and a member of Ephesus Primitive Baptist Church in Worth County.
Mrs. Lyon is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Athie Lyon of Sumner, Fred and Diane Lyon of Alapaha and James And Robin Lyon of Connecticul; one daughter, Mary Lyon of Shingler; four sisters, Hazel Wilson Lacey of North Carolina, Sybil Wilson Nobles of Okeechobee, Florida, Polly Wiilson Woodham of Lake Worth, Florida and Jan Wilson Lewis of Thomasville; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
